Our Approach to Capital Grant FG1 Fencing in Louth, Lincolnshire

Recently, we completed a Capital Grant FG1 fencing project in Louth, helping a private landowner improve a rural boundary and support long-term land management.

The work involved installing new timber posts, wire fencing and braced straining posts along the edge of open grassland and established hedgerows. The aim was to create a strong, practical and tidy boundary that suited the rural location while supporting the requirements of the Capital Grant FG1 scheme.

The Client’s Request

The client needed a reliable fencing solution to support a Capital Grant FG1 government scheme project. The site included a long rural fence line beside hedges, trees and open grassland, so the installation needed to be strong, neat and suitable for ongoing land management.

As with many countryside sites, the boundary needed to be practical as well as long lasting. It also had to work around existing hedgerows, uneven ground and changes in direction without making the area difficult to maintain.

The Problem

Rural boundaries can quickly become difficult to manage when fencing is missing, damaged or no longer suitable for the site. Open grassland, hedgerows and field edges often need secure fencing to help define boundaries, protect land and support responsible grazing or land management.

For projects linked to the Capital Grant FG1 scheme, it is also important that fencing is installed carefully and in line with the relevant guidance. GOV.UK states that FG1 fencing can be used to support grazing requirements, prevent water pollution, protect buffer strips, field corners, trees and woodland.

Without a secure fence line, land can become harder to manage and boundaries can become unclear, especially where grassland meets hedgerows, woodland edges or working agricultural areas.

Our Solution

To complete the Capital Grant FG1 fencing installation, our team prepared the fence line and installed a run of timber post and wire fencing along the boundary.

The work included:

  1. Installing new timber fence posts to create a strong and secure fence line.
  2. Fitting wire fencing to provide a practical rural boundary suitable for land and stock management.
  3. Adding braced straining posts where extra support was needed, particularly at the ends of the fence line and along changes in direction.
  4. Working carefully alongside established hedgerows, trees and grassland to keep the installation neat and sympathetic to the surrounding countryside.
  5. Creating a tidy and durable finish that supports the client’s land management needs while improving the overall appearance of the boundary.

The result is a strong and practical Capital Grant FG1 fencing solution that helps improve land management, boundary definition and long-term site maintenance.

The Benefits for the Client

By installing new Capital Grant FG1 fencing, the client now benefits from:

  • A stronger and more clearly defined rural boundary.
  • Improved stock control and land management.
  • A practical fencing solution suitable for open countryside conditions.
  • Better separation between hedgerows, grassland and working land.
  • A tidy and professional finish across the site.
  • A long-lasting installation designed for everyday rural use.
  • Support for a project completed in line with the aims of the Capital Grant FG1 fencing scheme.
